The Seattle Mariners are set to take on the Cleveland Indians in MLB action on Tuesday. The game is scheduled for a 6:10 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv. Currently the odds for the game have the Indians listed as the favorite to pick up the victory.
Today’s game between Seattle and Cleveland is being played a bit earlier than the typical MLB start time. Cleveland is 5-5 on the season but has won just two of its five home games, the Indians welcome in a Seattle team that has actually been solid away from home.
The Mariners have won four of six on the road, but today’s matchup will be a tough one against Carlos Carrasco and the Indians. Carrasco is 1-0 with a 3.46 ERA on the season, this will be his third start of the year. The righty looked very strong for Cleveland at Tampa Bay in his most recent start, tossing eight innings while allowing just one earned run while striking out eight. Carrasco walked just one while scattering four hits.
Mariners have 32 plate appearances against him, which is a small sample size, they own a .344 average in that time. Robinson Cano has homered and doubled twice, collecting five hits in nine at bats. Nelson Cruz has three hits, two doubles, in eight at bats.
Carrasco doesn’t have excellent numbers at home the past three-plus years, but they aren’t terrible either. Opponents are hitting .256 against him in 187 innings.
Seattle is sending lefty Wade Miley to the mound. He’s 0-1 with an 8.25 ERA in two starts, he’s gone six innings in both games — which happen to be against Texas. Miley gave up a home run in each start and 11 combined earned runs in those games on 17 hits.
Current Indians own a .321 average in 56 plate appearances. Rajai Davis has two home runs in five at bats.
Carrasco on the mound gives Cleveland an excellent chance, but they have struggled against lefties all season. The Indians are 2-4 against them this year, this will be the seventh game against a southpaw for Cleveland. Seattle has also won four of the last six in Cleveland. A good start from Carrasco can fix that for Cleveland and give them a win.
