The best rivalry in college basketball writes another chapter tonight as the North Carolina Tar Heels are on the road, taking on the Duke Blue Devils. The game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Blue Devils listed as the favorite to pick up the win.

Tonight’s matchup between North Carolina and Duke is another installment of the greatest rivalry in college hoops. The Blue Devils found a way to pick up a win in Chapel Hill earlier this season and it’s possible they pick up a home win over the Tar Heel in this one. North Carolina has lost seven straight road games against ranked opponents coming into this one, both teams come into this one ranked.

North Carolina is tied with Miami for the top spot in the ACC standings heading into this one, Duke is still a handful of games back. The Tar Heels could know the outcome of Miami’s game against Virginia Tech by the time they take the floor, if the Hokies can upset the Hurricanes in Blacksburg it would give the Tar Heels a chance to take over the conference.

In either case, Roy Williams and his team do not need any added incentive to want to knock off Duke. The Tar Heels are 5-5 in road games this season, they have a handful (3) of Top 100 RPI road wins but nothing in the Top 50. A win here could catapult them to a potential No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Big games from Brice Johnson and Justin Jackson are imperative to the Tar Heels’ success in this one. Duke has been having some depth issues this since Amile Jefferson went down. Without him Duke can have some rotational problems up front, foul trouble can be problematic.

Carolina might be the underdog in this one, and it certainly is tough to win at Duke. This should be another great rivalry matchup, but the edge goes to the Blue Devils playing at home.
