The Oklahoma Sooners are on the road in Big 12 College Basketball action today, taking on the Texas Longhorns. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Sooners favored by a point in what should be a close contest.
Oklahoma is back inside the Top 5 nationally and in order to stay there heading into the post season, the Sooners have three games remaining. The toughest of those three will be played here against Texas, the Longhorns gave Oklahoma a very tough game in Norman earlier this month. This game looks like it could come down to a possession or two as well. The Longhorns survived a test at Kansas State earlier this week and will look to stop the trend of alternating wins and losses the last four games.
Texas has a good record against Top 100 RPI teams this year at 11-9, though only Baylor and Connecticut have won in Austin. Oklahoma has been strong this season in road games, winning six of 10, they have two victories against Top 30 RPI teams in Baylor and West Virginia on the road. The win over the Mountaineers came last week in a game where the Sooners played very well down the stretch, something they will be looking to do again in this road battle.
Buddy Hield had 27 points the last meeting between these two teams, he was helped out by Isaiah Cousins as the only two players in double figures for the Sooners. Neither team shot the ball well in that game (both at 40 percent), but the difference in the game was nine 3-pointers from Oklahoma and eight more free throws made.
Everybody is once again looking up at Kansas in the Big 12 standings, but Oklahoma is tied with West Virginia in second place. A loss here would drop them another peg down, but also give Texas a 10th conference victory on the season.
