The Michigan State Spartans are playing host to the Wisconsin Badgers tonight in Big Ten College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Spartans favored to pick up the win at home.

Michigan State is playing well right now, even with the loss to Purdue in overtime the other day. Sparty just drilled Indiana in East Lansing and tonight they have a revenge contest against Wisconsin, a game they should have won earlier this season.

The Badgers have won seven straight games overall after opening the Big Ten season at 1-4, they sit alone in fourth place in the conference standings. Wisconsin could still find its way into the NCAA Tournament as they have some strong computer numbers, including an 8-5 record against the Top 100 RPI teams. A loss here would hurt them a bit, but Wisconsin can certainly help themselves as well.

Michigan State has eight Top 100 RPI wins as well, including victories over Kansas and Maryland. The Spartans have a pair of losses to Iowa that will keep them from winning the Big Ten this season, right now they sit in eighth place in the standings. A win here would move them into a tie for fifth with Purdue, Ohio State and Michigan, plus Michigan State should do no worse than 4-1 in their final five games, this one included, which should bring them to 12-6 overall in the league. That’s going to be a strong resume for Michigan State, which could end up as a top-three seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Wisconsin has played well of late, but they will have troubles slowing down Denzel Valentine and the Spartans at home.
