The Dayton Flyers are taking on the Rhode Island Rams tonight in college basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Flyers favored to pick up the victory on the road in this one.
Dayton is once again having a solid season. The Flyers are flying under the radar, now ranked 19th in the country and they have a very strong resume. Dayton owns five wins over the Top 50 RPI, including a neutral court win over Iowa back around Thanksgiving.
With only three losses on the season, Archie Miller’s club has piled up 11 wins the last 12 games overall, including winning eight straight. The one blemish on the resume came at La Salle, the only defeat on the road so far this season for Dayton.
Rhode Island is certainly not a tournament team. They have 10 losses on the season but seven of those came to teams inside the Top 50 RPI, the only problem for Rhode Island is their lack of a quality win or two. The Rams have just a single Top 100 win, coming at home over Houston back in early December.
Charles Cooke leads the Flyers at better than 16 points and six rebounds per game, they have a couple other guys averaging double digits per game as well.
Rhode Island has five guys averaging double digits themselves, led by Jarvis Garrett and Jared Terrell. The Rams aren’t a great rebounding team and Dayton will look to capitalize on that tonight.
Dayton is also a solid defensive club, the Flyers rank 19th nationally in defensive efficiency. That will play a big role in tonight’s game as the Flyers pick up a road win as Dayton stays on top of the Atlantic 10 standings.
