The Georgetown Hoyas are hosting the Creighton Bluejays tonight in Big East College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Hoyas favored to pick up the victory at home.

Georgetown has the revenge angle going in this one, but the Hoyas are also looking to deal Creighton its first road conference loss of the year. Both teams come into tonight’s game with 5-2 conference records, tied with Xavier and Providence for second place in the Big East behind Villanova.

The Hoyas could really use this game, the eight losses to date, six of them are to Top 100 RPI teams, but they need to find a way to balance that out with some wins. This year looks like more mid-majors will be making the tournament, that should give Georgetown a sense of urgency in the next three games — Creighton, Providence and at Butler. The Hoyas need to find a way to win two of those three games to help the resume.

Creighton beat Georgetown by 13 last meeting, Maurice Watson led them with 27. The Bluejays turned it over only nine times in the game and won the rebounding battle.

Tonight the Hoyas need a big game from leader D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera, he had 17 against Creighton last game. The senior guard has to will his team to a win while playing solid defense.

Georgetown actually has four losses at home this season; Creighton has been OK on the road at 3-3, which gives them a good shot tonight. But with the need to get a win tonight, at home, the Hoyas pick up a big win.
