Military Bowl Navy Midshipmen vs Pittsburgh Panthers Start Time, Betting Odds, Free Pick

The Navy Midshipmen are taking on the Pittsburgh Panthers in this year’s Military Bowl. The game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Midshipmen favored to pick up the victory over the Panthers.

Pittsburgh is taking on Navy in this game, which is being held in Annapolis, Maryland at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Yes, this is a home game for Navy but they are taking on a Pittsburgh team that is physical and looking to end the season on a high note.

Navy went 10-2 during the regular season, they fell to Houston in the American Athletic Conference title game. It’s the second time they’ve played in this Military Bowl, they lost to Wake Forest back in 2008.

Pittsburgh went 8-4 during the regular season, they are playing in the eight straight bowl game, which is the longest streak in school history. Pat Narduzzi, who came over from Michigan State to lead the Panthers, is a hard-nosed guy that is defense-oriented and looking to slow down the Navy attack.

Keenan Reynolds should have been invited to New York for the Heisman Trophy presentation, the quarterback did finish fifth in voting. Reynolds’ 85 career touchdowns on the ground are the most in Football Bowl Subdivision history; he passed Wisconsin’s Montee Ball and Georgia Southern’s Adrian Peterson earlier this year. This year Reynolds ran for almost 1,100 yards and 21 scores. Navy lost games to Notre Dame and Houston this season.

Pittsburgh dropped three of its last five games in the regular season, one of those was also to Notre Dame. The Panthers fell to Iowa, North Carolina and Miami (Fla.) this season as well. QB Nathan Peterman and tailback Qadree Ollison lead Pitt. Receiver Tyler Boyd is one of the best in the ACC, he caught 85 passes this season.

Navy didn’t beat a single team better than them all season, which could pose a problem, but Pitt isn’t better than the Midshipmen either.
