The Detroit Lions are hosting the San Francisco 49ers in NFL Football action on Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the NFL Odds for the game have the Lions favored by a comfortable margin to get the job done.

The Lions are hosting a 49er team that has been decimated all season, it’s really been a mess since Jim Harbaugh returned to Michigan. San Francisco is just 4-10 on the campaign and sits tied with Dallas for the worst mark in the NFC, they’ve yet to win a game in the division and have just three victories in 10 games against NFC competition.

Detroit hasn’t been much better. The Lions are 5-9, although they just looked very solid against a battered New Orleans team in the Superdome on Monday night. The short week shouldn’t be a big issue for the Lions in this home game against a bad team, plus the 49ers are playing in the dreadful 1 p.m. EST kickoff coming from the West Coast.

Matt Stafford is coming off a very sound game against the Saints, completing 22-of-25 passes for a Lions game record of 88 percent completion. He threw three touchdowns in that one as well, two going to Golden Tate. Calvin Johnson has had his struggles this season and hasn’t been the target as in year’s past, but he still eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark and has seven touchdowns. While it’s still a down year for him, the numbers are still strong.

This is the third road game in four weeks for San Francisco, coming off Christmas. San Fran is just 1-6 on the road this season, but Blaine Gabbert has at least looked OK in his time under center, thugh the 49ers are averaging only 14.5 points per game in his starts.
