The Connecticut Huskies are hosting the Ohio State Buckeyes in college basketball action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a noon start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Huskies favored to pick up the win at home.

Connecticut played Maryland tough in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden the last time out, but ended up losing by 10 points. The Huskies have now dropped three of their last four games overall with the defeat with losses to Syracuse, Gonzaga and the Terps. All three of those are probable tournament teams, something Connecticut is also looking to accomplish again this season.

Ohio State just beat Air Force, but is coming off a recent four-game losing skid to Texas-Arlington, Louisiana Tech, Memphis and Virginia and the Buckeyes still haven’t played a game on the road yet.

First true road games can be difficult and the Huskies are 4-0 at home this season. The Buckeyes have a handful of guys averaging double digits per game, led by Marc Loving and his 17 points. Thad Matta’s team is young and should be playing better basketball as the conference season approaches in the Big Ten, which is going to be a brutal conference this season. Ohio State can only improve on their tough start, but they will be in for a tough outing in this one.

Daniel Hamilton leads Connecticut in points (13.9 per) and rebounds (8.8) per game, he also hands out a team-leading 5.8 assists per game as well. Hamilton can do it all and he will be Ohio State’s top defensive priority. The Huskies have a couple other guys in Rodney Purvis (13.8), plus transfers Shonn Miller and Sterling Gibbs that combine for 24 additional points per game as well. Each of Connecticut’s losses have been close contests, now they should be ready to pick up a key game at home.
