The Carolina Panthers are on the road to take on the Dallas Cowboys in Thanksgiving NFL?Football action. The game is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on?CBS. Currently the NFL?Odds for the game have Dallas favored to knock off the Panthers in this Turkey Day contest.
Carolina comes in 10-0, the only team in the NFC?that has yet to lose a game. The Panthers are led by Cam Newton and an offense that has been pretty good to this point in the season. Newton has led the team to an average of almost 30 points per game, which ranks third best in the league behind both Arizona and New England.
The run game has continued to be very good for the Panthers, ranking fourth-best in the league at just under 140 yards per game. Dallas will have to play better on the defensive end of the field in this one if they are going to have a good chance. The Cowboys allow opponents to run for an average of better than 104 yards per game, which is a middle of the pack ranking. If Carolina can line up and run the football at will, Dallas will be playing from behind the entire game.
A big positive for the Cowboys is the return of Tony Romo. Without him they were dismal, losing all seven games. In his return he led Dallas to a win in Miami last week by double digits. The run game was also effective with?Darren McFadden’s 129 yards on the ground.
Carolina’s defense is pretty good and the front seven will look to put pressure on Romo all game. Romo threw two picks in the team’s win over the Dolphins and got away with it, he probably won’t be able to do the same against the Panthers.
With Romo back, Dez Bryant will once again become a major factor in the passing game. Carolina’s going to have a tough time matching up with the big receiver, which should prove to be a big reason the Cowboys win this one at home.
