The TCU Horned Frogs, ranked No. 5 in the Associated Press poll, host the West Virginia Mountaineers in college football action on Thursday. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Horned Frogs favored by a couple of touchdowns in this conference clash.
Expect points to be scored in this one. TCU has one of the better offenses in the country, but they can’t stop anyone from scoring (except Texas). The Frogs enter this game against West Virginia ranked second in the country behind Baylor at 616.3 yards per game offensively. The Mountaineers are pretty solid at moving the football as well, ranking 19th in the country with 485 yards offensively per game.
That hasn’t helped the Mountaineers, though, they’re 3-3 overall and haven’t won a Big 12 game yet this season. Each of those conference games came in West Virginia’s last three games overall, giving up a combined 139 points to Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Baylor.
TCU owns wins in 19 of its last 20 games overall, they come into this game off a bye week and Trevone Boykin is once again in contention for Heisman candidacy. Boykin’s thrown for 25 scores already this season and five straight games have seen him eclipse the 300-yard plateau. That should once again be no problem in this one, West Virginia gives up better than 400 yards per game to their opponents.
With both defenses struggling and TCU having an explosive offense, the over seems like the best bet on this one.
