The Oregon Ducks and Arizona State Sun Devils meet up in college football action on Thursday night. The game is scheduled for a 10:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Sun Devils favored by about a field goal in this one to get the job done.
The devastated Oregon Ducks and Arizona State Sun Devils are having tough seasons. Both teams are 4-3 overall and sit at 2-2 in Pac 12 play this year despite both teams expected to have solid seasons — Arizona State was picked by many pundits to be a potential college football playoff team this year.
Yikes.
Oregon QB Vernon Adams has not been the solid starter Ducks fans had hoped for, he’s dealt with injuries and has yet to showcase his skill. Adams played well enough early for the Ducks to beat Michigan State, but the Spartans proved to be too tough defensively and picked up the win. Dating back to that loss, Oregon has posted a record of just 3-2 with losses to Utah and Washington State where they gave up a combined 107 points.
Yet, a big win on the road last week over Washington has the Ducks feeling better about themselves. The schedule does not get any easier and the Sun Devils have gone 3-1 in home games this season.
Arizona State is looking to rebound from a loss at Utah a couple weeks back and find a way to play like they did in an upset at UCLA. Quarterback Mike Bercovici has shown to be solid this season at times, but also struggle. The run game has been pretty much non-existent and Demario Richard has been banged up.
Neither defense is great, a stop or two could prove to be the difference in this one. The total is sitting around 66 points, which means both teams will need to come close to the 30s in order to be comfortable with the over. Seems likely.
