The Michigan Wolverines play host to the Northwestern Wildcats in a Top 25 college football battle today. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Currently the college football betting odds for the game have the Wolverines favored to pick up the victory at home.

Michigan has made a quick turnaround under Jim Harbaugh. The Wolverines are stout on defense and the offense has gone back to running the football consistently and well, plus they’ve been taking care of business at home. They welcome in undefeated and well-coached Northwestern in this one, a battle of two great defenses.

The total is listed at just 34 or 34.5 for this one, yet Michigan is favored by nearly double digits. Michigan’s second-ranked total defense is going to cause problems for Northwestern, but the Wildcats will also be looking to cause problems for the Wolverine offense as well. Northwestern comes in with a Top 10 overall defense as well, making the total the lowest in nearly a decade.

Points will be at a premium in this one, Michigan’s running game looks to be the best overall unit for the offenses. Both Northwestern and Michigan lead the country in fewest points allowed per game. Northwestern allows just 7.0 points per game, Michigan is yielding 7.6 to opponents.

The difference could be the freshman QB for Northwestern, Clayton Thorson. Michigan is great at disguising blitzes and getting after the signal caller, this will be obviously the best defense he’s seen (outside of practice) all season. Oh yeah, there is going to be better than 112,000 people in the stands as well.
