Texas Tech Red Raiders at Baylor Bears College Football Odds, Start Time, Free Pick

The Texas Tech Red Raiders take on the fifth-ranked Baylor Bears in college football action from Jerry’s World on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on ABC or ESPN2 depending on region. Currently the odds for the game have Baylor favored by a comfortable margin in this one.

AT&T Stadium will be the site for this game between a pair of offenses that can score a ton of points. The total for points scored in this game is the highest over/under ever in Las Vegas sportsbooks and the two teams have combined to score at least 94 points in each of their last three meetings.

For what it’s worth Texas Tech averages 53.8 points per game, Baylor comes in averaging 64 points per game themselves. Neither defense is great, but Baylor’s has been playing better overall in allowing just 318 yards per game to their opponents. Baylor hasn’t played ANYBODY yet, however. Texas Tech went to Arkansas and picked up a win, they nearly knocked off No. 3 TCU last week as well. The Red Raiders are getting no love in this game as a three-score underdog, but on a neutral field they have an excellent chance to cover the 17 points.

Red Raider QB Patrick Mahomes has thrown for 1,400 yards and 11 touchdowns to date, four receivers have double digit catches led by Jakeem Grant with 29 for 413 yards and two TDs. Texas Tech has actually run the football better this year as well and DeAndre Washington is averaging 8.2 yards per carry with five touchdowns.

Baylor has a Heisman candidate in Seth Russell, he’s tosses for almost 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns this year — eight to Corey Coleman.

If either defense can get a stop or two, it puts their team in a position to possibly pick up a win. Both offenses are going to score a ton of points and even if they don’t get to 94 points again, there’s little doubt this game will be played with both teams in the 30s.

Baylor owns four straight wins in this series and between the two teams they have the better defense, which should help them win again. Texas Tech will keep it within 17 points, though.
