The Notre Dame Fighting Irish welcome in the Massachusetts Minutemen in college football action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on NBC. Currently the odds for the game have Notre Dame favored at home by four touchdowns to beat up on UMass.
Notre Dame should have no problems in this one. The Irish do have a potential look-ahead spot as they travel to Clemson next week, taking on the Tigers in Death Valley in what could be a potential battle of Top 10 teams.
Notre Dame’s biggest hurdle this season could be staying healthy. Malik Zaire went down with a season-ending foot injury and the Irish are battling injuries at key spots that shouldn’t be an issue in this one against UMass. The Irish beat Georgia Tech last week 30-22 in a game they cruised despite giving up 15 fourth-quarter points after the game was pretty much decided.
Freshman quarterback DeShone Kizer had a pretty solid game, throwing the ball consistently to Will Fuller makes that job a bit easier. Kizer has to grow up quickly to give Notre Dame a good shot the rest of the season, this game should help him get better.
The Irish also have a great ground game with C.J. Prosise, who ran for nearly 200 yards and three scores last week. Prosise is averaging almost eight yards per carry and shouldn’t be slowed down at all against the Minutemen.
As long as Notre Dame isn’t completely uninterested, they’ll crush UMass.
