The Stanford Cardinal are on the road in college football action Friday night when they take on the Oregon State Beavers. The game is scheduled for a 10:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1. Currently the college football odds for the game have Stanford favored to pick up the road victory.
Stanford got a statement win last weekend inside the Coliseum in Los Angeles, beating USC in impressive fashion, posting 41 points in the upset. The Cardinal looked unstoppable at times on offense, Kevin Hogan threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns, the Cardinal also posted a very strong game on the ground with 195 yards and three touchdowns; Christian McCaffrey ran for 115 yards while Remound Wright scored all three times for the Cardinal on the ground.
Oregon State is 2-1 on the season, the lone loss coming on the road at Michigan in a game where they took a 7-0 lead early, but then gave up 35 unanswered points. True freshman quarterback Seth Collins has been getting better during the three games for the Beavers, he’s thrown for four touchdowns and rushed for a couple of scores last week against San Jose State.
Collins will be facing a tough test with Stanford’s defense, but they did give up over 425 yards of total offense to USC. The Trojans are loaded on offense so that number isn’t embarrassing, especially considering Stanford allowed only 181 yards of total offense to UCF and 330 to Northwestern, UCF scored only one time and Northwestern was held to 16 points.
Stanford’s defense has forced two turnovers this year and they will be looking to cause problems for Oregon State’s freshman quarterback. But will there be a bit of a letdown here from Stanford on the road? More than a couple of touchdowns on a Friday night in Corvallis looks like too much.
