The LSU Tigers are on the road in college football action on Saturday, taking on the Syracuse Orange. The game is scheduled for a noon start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Tigers favored to pick up a comfortable win on the road in New York.

LSU has looked like the best team in the country through a couple of games this season. Leonard Fournette has bulldozed everyone in his path to the tune of an average of 8.2 yards per carry, scoring six touchdowns and running for nearly 400 yards on just 47 carries. He’s clearly the best player in college football right now and there’s nothing Syracuse is going to be able to do to slow him down.

Thus, the gameplan for LSU is simple: play great defense, hand it off to Fournette and kick extra points. Brandon Harris has looked just fine under center for the Tigers, completing 21-of-31 passes with just one touchdown and no turnovers. Eventually LSU is going to have to throw the football to beat someone, but it shouldn’t be this week yet.

Syracuse is 3-0 and they’ve picked up all three wins at home over Rhode Island, Wake Forest and Central Michigan. They haven’t really been tested yet and LSU is clearly the best team they have on the schedule so far and outside of Florida State and Clemson are the best team Syracuse will see all season.

Orange QB Eric Dungey probably won’t have a lot of time to get rid of the football, but he has looked strong this season, completing better than 58 percent of his passes and hooking up for five touchdowns. Syracuse has run the football well, too, posting 5.0 yards per carry and using a ton of backs.

In the end, though, will the Orange be able to move the football against a stout LSU defense? They won’t be able to slow Fournette down, either, this looks like a solid win for the Tigers on the road.
