The Florida State Seminoles are on the road in college football action Friday night, taking on the Boston College Eagles. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Seminoles favored to pick up the win on the road.
Florida State comes in ranked ninth in the country, it’s their first time on the road this season after beating Texas State and South Florida. Their most recent win, coming against the Bulls, was a bit lackluster as they two were tied 7-7 at the break, only to see Florida State pull away in the second half.
Sophomore running back Dalvin Cook has been awesome for the Noles, running for 422 yards and five scores his first two games. Florida State comes in 16th nationally in rushing with 270.5 yards per game, only to be right behind their opponent this week in Boston College, which has averaged 275.5 through two games.
Boston College has looked solid in its first two wins of the season, beating Maine and Howard by a combined 100-3 score. Clearly those aren’t powerhouse programs, but BC took advantage when it had to in order to roll to a couple of wins. The Eagles have dropped five straight to Florida State and won only four times the last 10 meetings. BC nearly pulled off the upset last year, only to see the Seminoles kick a field goal with time running out to escape with the win.
Florida State quarterback Everett Golson has thrown for 465 yards and five touchdowns so far, he’s yet to throw an interception, something that plagued him while at Notre Dame. If Golson and the Noles can keep the football without fiving Boston College extra possessions, they should win.
The Eagles haven’t played anybody of merit to date, and even with the Seminoles coming to Chestnut Hill, this could be a tough one for them.
