The Penn State Nittany Lions look to keep the dream alive today when they take on the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Big Ten Tournament. The game is scheduled for a 2:25 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Currently the College Basketball Betting Odds for the game have the Hawkeyes favored by a couple of buckets to pick up the win.
Penn State did not have a great season in conference play this year, winning just four games. All of that can be pushed aside if the Nittany Lions can run the table in the Big Ten Tournament and reach the Big Dance. While extremely unlikely, having a playing like D.J. Newbill does mean Penn State should be in most of these games despite playing better teams.
Penn State beat Nebraska in the opening round of the tournament on Wednesday and now they take on an Iowa team that finished with the five seed in the conference. Both Penn State and Iowa could beat Purdue on a neutral floor in the quarterfinals, making this a big game for both schools.
The Hawkeyes already have 21 wins on the season and enter today’s game having won their last six games, including a four-point win at Penn State in overtime.
Aaron White earned a First Team All Big Ten spot, averaging nearly 16 points a game. He does it all for the Hawkeyes and is going to be a problem for Penn State today. The first game between these two schools saw White post 21 points and 14 rebounds, including knocking down six free throws in the overtime session.
This one today could come down to the star players. While White has the better overall supporting cast, Newbill seems poised to lead his team as far as he can. Today it ends, though, as Iowa beats up Penn State on the glass.
