The Kansas Jayhawks welcome in the West Virginia Mountaineers tonight in Big 12 College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Currently the College Basketball Betting Odds for the game have Kansas listed as a comfortable favorite in this one.
Kansas has already wrapped up at least a share of the Big 12 title this season, the 11th straight time the Jayhawks have been at the top of the conference. This year's team isn't the best one Bill Self has had during his tenure, but they are once again looking at snagging a potential high seed in the tournament.
West Virginia picked up a single-point win over Kansas the last time they met in Morgantown a few weeks back. Kansas is now working with some in-season revenge in this one and they're playing at home, where the Jayhawks have gone 14-0 so far this season. The Mountaineers, on the other hand, have gone just 5-4 in their road games.
This year's Kansas squad is more perimeter-oriented compared to teams in the past. Kansas ranks best in the Big 12 from downtown at 39.7 percent and they'll look to increase on that number in tonight's game.
Perry Ellis has been playing well for the Jayhawks, averaging almost 19 points and nine rebounds per game during the last nine games overall. Kelly Oubre and the youngsters will have to play well tonight for Kansas, though. West Virginia has a havoc-style defense that forces opponents into turning the basketball over and scoring points in transition.
Juwan Staten and Devin Williams both have to play great tonight for the Mountaineers. But with this game being on the road, at Kansas, it's tough to see West Virginia winning.
