The Oklahoma State Cowboys travel to take on the Kansas State Wildcats in Big 12 College Basketball action today. The game is scheduled for a noon start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the Betting Odds for the game have the Wildcats favored at home by a slim margin to pick up the win.
This looks like a potentially winnable game for Kansas State, playing at home against the Cowboys. The Wildcats just lost at Iowa State earlier this week and have a very tough stretch coming up with six games against ranked opponents the next eight. In conference play the Wildcats have been pretty solid, but did lost to Oklahoma State back in the early part of the month 61-47.
That gives Kansas State a revenge angle in this game and make note that Oklahoma State is 1-4 this season in true road games. For the season Kansas State has played much better in home games, winning eight of their 10 contests.
The Cowboys also have a tough schedule coming up with the next five games coming against ranked opponents and seven of the next eight overall as well. Oklahoma State has two of the top scorers in the conference in Le'Bryan Nash and Phil Forte III, both averaging better than 17 points per game. Overall the Cowboys score 70 points per game as well and they will need to have a balanced attack against the Wildcats.
Kansas State is a slower-pace team and will look to make possessions count in this one. The Wildcats average only 65 points per game this season, but shoot 46 percent, which isn't terrible. They bring three double-digit scorers to this game, led by Marcus Foster at just under 14 per contest. Both Nino Williams (11.5) and Thomas Gipson (11.4) will play major roles on the boards in addition to their offense and if the game is played slower, Kansas State is looking at a good spot here.
With Oklahoma State lacking a legitimate third scorer, it allows Kansas State's to key in on the Cowboys' big two guns. And although they already have eight losses on the season, Kansas State is favored to win this game. That has to count for something.
