A battle of Top 25 teams take to the floor today when the Kansas Jayhawks play the Texas Longhorns in Big 12 College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the Betting Odds for the game have Texas favored to pick up the conference win at home.
Kansas has shown its dominance in the Big 12 throughout the years and currently find themselves with the same 4-1 record at Iowa State atop the standings again. The Cyclones own the tiebreaker over Kansas, though, beating them on the court recently. It’s tough to see both of these teams finishing the season with only one conference loss, but that makes this game even more important for Kansas.
Texas sits at 3-2 in Big 12 play, having lost to both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Since those defeats earlier this month the Longhorns have rallied to pick up a couple of big wins by blowing out both West Virginia and TCU. Kansas is better than both of those teams and Texas will have to play well to win.
Texas has won games by having a major rebounding edge, but the Jayhawks are a solid rebounding team themselves. The battle of the glass will be key and Kansas will look to get a solid game from Perry Ellis.
The front line of Texas is very good — with Myles Turner, Jonathan Holmes and Cameron Ridley combining to score an average of 32 points and 16 points per game. Kansas is going to have a tough time against those three in this one.
Another advantage for Texas is their ability to dominate games at home, having won nine of their 11 games there this season. The defense is strong, the Horns are one of the best rebounding teams in America and they’ve won two straight in impressive fashion.
Texas will be too much today at home.
