The Rutgers Scarlet Knights travel to take on the Maryland Terrapins tonight in Big Ten College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Currently the odds for the game have the Terrapins favored to pick up the win at home.

Rutgers is coming off a program-building win over No. 4 Wisconsin last weekend, even if the Badgers were without two of their starters. Rutgers has not been good consistently this season, sporting just a 10-7 record and splitting four games on the road. Those losses on the road haven't been close, either, losing by 27 at Seton Hall and by 16 to Nebraska just last week. The Scarlet Knights sure looked good at times in the win over Wisconsin, but can they find a way to keep that going in this game, another tough one against a solid top of the conference Big Ten team?

Maryland and Rutgers are both new to the conference, but the Terrapins are certainly helping the Big Ten hoops brand. Ranked 14th in the latest polls, Maryland has been very tough to beat, especially on their own floor. The Terps have found a way to win 10 of their 11 games inside their own arena, with the one loss coming to the now second-ranked team in the country, Virginia.

The Terps can score points, averaging almost 73 per game this season. Rutgers, on the other hand, does not score a lot of points and plays a grind-it-out style of basketball. The Scarlet Knights come into this game tonight averaging just 58 points per game, which ranks 327th in the country. Hard to see them keeping Maryland under 60 points, but Illinois was able to do so last week against the Terps.

Freshman Melo Trimble leads Maryland in scoring this year, pouring in almost 16 points a contest. Maryland also gets double-digit scoring from both Jake Layman (14.4) and Dez Wells (13.8), so look for them to have options in this game tonight against Rutgers.

The Scarlet Knights are coming off their best win, but it won't last long. Maryland is too tough at home and has too many options offensively for Rutgers to slow down. Look for Maryland to get out early and run away in this one.
