The Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles renew their rivalry in college football action on Saturday. Currently the College Football Betting Odds for the game have the Seminoles favored by right around a touchdown to pick up the win.
This will be Florida coach Will Muschamp's swan song as he put in his letter of resignation following the season. Florida could still play in a bowl game, but D.J. Durkin will be coaching the team if they are able to get there. Muschamp always had good defensive teams while at Florida but the offense was never able to get going during his tenure, which will end.
Florida State is the defending national champion, but this team is different than last year's squad. They've been judged unfairly most of the season but are still 11-0 and looking to remain unbeaten and find a way into the college football playoffs. Florida State ranks third overall in the country, but they really need to be careful in this contest. Florida's defense has been pretty good this season, allowing only Kentucky, Alabama, LSU and Missouri to score more than 24 points in a game this season. The only one the Gators won, though, was a 36-30 decision in triple overtime over Kentucky back early in the season.
A win last week over Eastern Kentucky saw the Gators pour on 52 points, but they won't be able to come anywhere close to that in this one. Surely the Gators will give the best effort possible as their coach is standing on the sidelines for the final time as their leader. The SEC East was not good this season and Florida still couldn't find a way to win the division.
Florida State will need a good effort from Jameis Winston. The Seminoles still have a tough game next week in the ACC title game against a pesky Georgia Tech team, so escaping this game without injury and finding a way to win will both be high on the list for Jimbo Fischer and the gang. Florida will be looking to put a stop on the possible Seminole national championship run, but it won't be easy as the Noles have won 26 straight games as this team knows how to win.
Florida will have a lot of emotion and the Seminoles might make it look close early, but Winston and the offense will make plays in the second half, where Florida State has been so good all season.
