The Utah Utes and Arizona Wildcats meet on the gridiron in college football action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have the Utes favored by a slim margin in this one to get the win.
This is a matchup between Top 25 teams in the Pac 12 with some colder weather expected to be heading into the area around kickoff. The Pac 12 South has been an absolute mess this season with several teams still bidding to find a way to play in the title game. Five of six teams are left with a chance to get into that contest, Utah and Arizona both being in the mix.
Arizona will have to win each of their final two games plus get help while Utah needs a four or five-way tie atop the standings, plus they have to beat both Arizona and Colorado next week to have any chance. It certainly is a long shot. But if they can't win over Arizona in this one, it will not matter anyway.
The Wildcats come in averaging better than 35 points per game and have won three of four games on the road. Utah actually has a couple of defeats on their own turf, dropping games to Washington State (bad loss) and Oregon (just a better team). The defenses for both clubs are pretty solid as well, so this should be a fun game to watch.
Arizona has a freshman quarterback in Anu Soloman that has a really bright future. He's already tossed for better than 3,000 yards and 25 touchdowns. Arizona can run the football effectively as well, racking up 185 yards per game on the ground. The balanced offense will be needed in this game against Utah.
The Utes average 31 points per game themselves and also have a balanced offense. Devontae Booker has rushed for better than 1,100 yards in the season with eight scores so far, but they have a couple of quarterbacks in Travis Wilson and Kendall Thompson that have split time this season.
Utah, playing at home, has to be feeling good after beating Stanford in double overtime last week. Arizona struggled to beat Washington at home and had to come from behind and kick a field goal as time expired to win. This is going to be a great game between two very solid clubs and we like the home team to get it done.
