Monday Night Football Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Healthy Tony Romo Only Thing That Will Save Cowboys in 2014

The Dallas Cowboys look to continue being the hottest team in the league when the host the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football. The game is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have the Cowboys listed as a comfortable favorite to win.

Dallas has played like the best team in the league so far this season, racing out to a 6-1 record. They are obviously a better football team than Washington, but they play the game for a reason. Dallas already owns nice wins over Seattle and New Orleans this season and they've rolled through six straight victories.

The Cowboys are the best team in the league on the ground, led by DeMarco Murray and that really impressive offensive line. Tony Romo isn't making mistakes because he doesn't have to throw the ball 50 times a game, making Dallas a much more efficient football team.

Washington is awful in turnover differential. They're -8 for the season and now Robert Griffin III has been ruled out for this game tonight. Washington might be a better football team without him on the field when he's not completely healthy, but backup Kirk Cousins stunk it up and now the Redskins will send Colt McCoy out there as their starting quarterback. He's played well when on the field this season but Dallas will look to bring pressure at him and probably load the box against him, not trusting that he can throw the football to beat them.

Dallas' defense isn't any better than they were last season, as they're giving up the same number of yards per play, but the defense isn't spending nearly as much time on the field. When the Cowboys have the football they are eating up clock and allowing their defense to stay on the sidelines and rest up.

With the Cowboys punching teams in the mouth repeatedly and dominating the time of possession, it's no surprise they are winning football games. The Cowboys average 33:50 per game (second best in the league) at holding possession of the football while Washington ranks 20th best in the league at 29:36.

Look for the Dallas offense to continue with the possession dominance in this game. Murray is going to have a big game for the Cowboys while Romo will be able to get the football to his weapons, mainly Dez Bryant. Washington just isn't going to be able to get it going enough to win this game.

Free Pick: Dallas 31, Washington 17
