College Football Texas Longhorns at Kansas State Wildcats Start Time, Odds

Meet Jake Waters, the Best-Kept Secret in the Big 12

The 11th-ranked Kansas State Wildcats welcome in the Texas Longhorns in college football action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a noon start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have Kansas State favored by a comfortable margin to win.

This is homecoming for the Wildcats, who welcome in a Texas team that can't seem to get anything right. Charlie Strong believes he can change the losing atmosphere for the Longhorns, but knows it's not going to happen right away. And it's not like Texas has been bad for some time, the Horns are just in a pretty bad spot the past few seasons.

Kansas State, on the other hand, has risen to 11th in the country after storming into Norman last week and knocking off the Sooners. The Wildcats had beaten Texas five straight times (covering the number as well), but lost to the Horns last year in what turned out to be the last time Mack Brown faced Kansas State.

The Wildcats now sit alone atop the Big 12 standings as the only team in the conference without a loss in the league. One of five Big 12 teams ranked in the Top 25, Kansas State will look to win their sixth overall contest in this one while pushing Texas to their fifth loss.

Tyrone Swoopes hasn't performed the best, but he is taking the necessary steps to help the Longhorns get better. Only a sophomore, Swoopes had to take over for David Ash, who had his career cut short because of concussion issues.

In this one, the Texas defense will be pushed. Kansas State can move the football and good defenses have had a problem slowing them down. The Wildcats can put up points, have a pretty decent defense and are on a roll right now.

Quarterback Jake Waters leads the Cats in rushing as well, combining for better than 1,800 total yards this season and 16 touchdowns. Waters hasn't been slowed down all year and Texas won't be able to do it either. The Longhorns are going to have to force Waters into turnovers, which won't be easy. Waters has thrown just three interceptions all season and the Wildcats sit at +3 in the turnover differential this year. Kansas State will be too much, especially at home, for a free-falling Texas team.

Free Pick: Kansas State 31, Texas 17
