NFL Football Chicago Bears at Carolina Panthers Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Analyzing Cam Newton in Week 1: Carolina Panthers vs. Seattle Seahawks

The Chicago Bears hit the road to take on the Carolina Panthers in an NFL football battle on Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have the Panthers favored to pick up the win at home.

Big game for both teams here. Chicago is potentially looking at being a couple of games back in the NFC North with a Lions win, while Carolina is tied with Atlanta at 2-2 on top of the NFC South.

The Bears have been able to pull off the odd 2-0 road record but be 0-2 at home through their first four games. That should give them some confidence heading into this one, playing a Carolina team that has only one win in two games at home, coming over the Lions a couple of weeks ago.

This will be the third meeting in the last four years between these two teams, the road team covering all three games.

But Chicago might be able to exploit the Panthers, who have played Pittsburgh and Baltimore in back-to-back weeks. Both teams have pretty solid passing games, but both were able to run the football well against the Panthers — Pittsburgh had 264 yards on the ground while Baltimore had 127, but they ran the ball effectively.

The Bears will want to get Matt Forte involved in this one. While Jay Cutler has weapons in Alshon Jefferey and Brandon Marshall, you can't dismiss that Forte is one of the better backs in the league.

Remember when Carolina was one of the best running teams in the league last year? Hasn't been the case this season, as just 71 yards per game on the ground equates to 29th best in the league. Too much pressure on the run game, so the Panthers have tried to fix that by having Cam Newton throw the rock.

Yet, the Bears aren't anything special on defense anymore. Look for Newton to guide his team to a win here, at home, in a game they need to have to stay atop the division.

Free Pick: Carolina 23, Chicago 17
