College Football New Mexico State Aggies at LSU Tigers Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

LSU Football: 5 Things Standing in the Way of an SEC Championship

The LSU Tigers welcome in the New Mexico State Aggies in college football action Saturday night. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the SEC Network. Currently the odds for the game have LSU favored by more than six touchdowns in this one.

LSU is looking to rebound from a loss last week at the hands of Mississippi State. The Tigers couldn't stop the run, gave up a lot of big plays on defense but in the end still had a chance to find a way to win late in the fourth quarter.

But the Tigers didn't win.

Now they have a layup game against New Mexico State, a contest they should come out and dominate. The Tigers have a brutal road game on deck next week with Auburn, so not bringing their best game to Death Valley tonight could make them look sloppy.

LSU had pitched back-to-back shutouts over Sam Houston State and Louisiana-Monroe before allowing 34 points and 570 yards to the Bulldogs last week. The 570 yards by Mississippi State were the most LSU surrendered in 13 seasons.

Another first happened as well last week — LSU lost a home game, at night, to an unranked opponent for the first time under coach Les Miles. But it might be a catalyst for this week as the Tigers are 23-1 overall following a loss under coach Miles dating back to 2002.

The Tigers have gone with both Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris at quarterback. Miles has never been a stranger to use the multi-quarterback system, so expect that to continue.

New Mexico State hasn't beaten a Top 25 team since 1999 over Arizona State. They've dropped 20 games since that win over the Sun Devils.

The Aggies average 30.3 points per game this season and surrender the same exact number to opponents.

New Mexico State is even on turnovers this season, but quarterback Tyler Rogers has thrown six picks so far this year. Not good heading into a game against the Tigers at night.

LSU has the better special teams, better defense and they'll rebound from last week's loss without looking ahead to Auburn next week.

Free Pick: LSU 51, New Mexico State 9
