NFL Football New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

New Orleans Saints: What You Need to Know Heading into Week 16

The New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons being their NFL campaigns today. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have New Orleans listed as the favorite in this one.

One of the sexy picks in the NFL to potentially win the NFC and get to the Super Bowl are the New Orleans Saints. The only way they'll be able to get moving in the right direction early on is to pick up a win, on the road, in a division rivalry game.

The Saints have Drew Brees. They have Jimmy Graham. Their offense won't be a question, especially with this game being played indoors. But in their road opener each of the last four seasons they've failed to cover the point spread. Initially when the NFL lines came out earlier this year the Falcons were favored in this one, but a lot of public perception and betting has come in on the Saints, causing the line to move in their favor.

Matt Ryan and the boys in Atlanta need a good showing this year. They've gone from a team that was feared in the Georgia Dome and playing in the post season to a terrible 2013 campaign they are trying to forget. Injuries and bad play didn't help them last year, so getting a fresh start will be important for them. The Falcons simply have to be better or guys will be losing their jobs. And they do have quite a bit of talent.

New Orleans has won eight of the last 10 games in this rivalry. Brees is going to have a lot of time to throw in this one as Atlanta's defense doesn't appear like it has improved much since last year. They have no significant pass rusher and if Brees has all kinds of time to throw, he's going to hurt the Falcons.

The Saints defense is going to be better. They can get after the quarterback, have made some upgrades on the back end as well.

Without being able to run the ball effectively last season, Atlanta became one-dimensional and it didn't work for them. If they can't establish a run in this one, the Saints will put pressure on Ryan all game.

New Orleans is a better team, is going to be a playoff team this season and should get the win here on the road.

Free Pick: Saints 28, Falcons 21
