The Nevada Wolfpack could be one of the surprise teams in the Mountain West Confence this season. The 2014 Nevada Wolfpack Schedule is definitely beneficial to them with several of their road games being winnable.
The Wolfpack season will all determine on senior quarterback Cody Fajardo, who is a two-way quarterback. He provides Nevada with a big arm and solid legs from the QB position. Last year Nevada was the definition of underachieving, going just 4-8 overall and 3-5 in Mountain West play. Brian Polian enters his second season as the coach of the Wolfpack looking for this year to be one to build upon.
Nevada brings back seven starters on offense, which certainly should help them. Fajardo has completed more than 67 percent of his throws during his career, compiling almost 10,000 yards of total offense during his time under center. The offensive line is a positive and should help keep Fajardo upright and give him the ability to move the offense down the field.
The Wolfpack also bring back nine starters on defense. Highlighted by Brock Hekking on the defensive line, Nevada will be able to get sacks and cause havoc up front. Their linebackers are solid as well, leaving just the secondary left as the unit that needs the most improvement this season. If the Wolfpack secondary can be better this season, they are going to be pretty solid.
Nevada should start the season with a pretty solid record before hosting tough games against Boise State, Colorado State, San Diego State and Fresno State ultimately. They have to travel to Arizona, which won't be easy, early in the season. That should be a measuring stick type of game. If the Wolfpack can hang around and not get blown out in that game, this team should be able to build off that contest heading into the conference season.
