College Basketball Baylor Bears vs Texas Longhorns Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The Baylor Bears take to the road tonight when they play the No. 25 Texas Longhorns. The game is scheduled for a 9 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPNu. Currently the odds for the game have Texas as a small favorite in this one at home.

Baylor needs another quality win on the road if they are going to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. The Bears are just 6-8 in Big 12 play with some horrendous losses. But they've got some big wins as well. Tonight certainly would allow them to take another step in that direction. Baylor has top-flight talent at several positions and it's time they start playing like it. Baylor narrowly missed the NCAA Tournament last year as well.

Texas had a chance to potentially end Kansas' run of winning the Big 12 conference, but the Longhorns lost two straight to Iowa State and the Jayhawks. They've stabilized themselves in the Top 25 still, but a third straight loss here tonight at the hands of Baylor would certainly knock them out. Texas has all but locked up an NCAA Tournament bid, but they need a win here tonight in order to regroup. Texas put up just 18 first half points in that loss to Kansas. In their two straight losses the Longhorns shot just 33.6 percent from the floor. So far this season when Texas shoots better than 40 percent they're 18-1.

Jonathan Holmes leads the Horns with 13.2 points per game. Isaiah Taylor has played very well as a freshman this season. Cameron Ridley is going to want to mush up the paint tonight against Baylor and hit the boards.

Baylor has four four straight games and they haven't won five in a row since January 1998. They're holding their last four opponents below 40 percent as well, which has helped them pick up the wins. During the team's last loss to Texas they were in the middle of a 2-8 run, but have since turned it around. The Bears are just 3-4 on the road. Isaiah Austin is very soft for his height and position, but he can play angry at times, which helps the Bears. With him and Cory Jefferson battling tough on the blocks, they could pose a problem with Texas. If Baylor can get solid games from both of their post players tonight they can win this game. Austin has averaged 16.8 points and 5.4 blocks over his last five, and Jefferson has scored 20.3 while pulling down 12.0 boards per game in the past three.

During Baylor's four-game win streak they've averaged 84 points per game and connected on nearly 42 percent of their shots. They've lost 13 of their past 15 games in Austin to the Longhorns, but tonight we like the upset. Baylor needs this game and they're playing really well right now.

Free Pick: Baylor 80, Texas 77
