The No. 9 Michigan State Spartans welcome in the Nebraska Cornhuskers today in Big 10 college basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Currently the odds for the game have Michigan State favored by more than a dozen points in this one.

Michigan State and Michigan are tied atop the Big Ten Conference to this point in the season and both play today. Michigan hosts No. 21 Wisconsin while the Spartans host the Cornhuskers. Nebraska isn't the best team on the road this season, going just 1-7 in their away games so far this season. Michigan State is very good at the Breslin Center this season, losing just twice (and once to Michigan).

The Spartans will look to get a solid game from Adreian Payne, who has been dominating games since he came back from his foot problems. The senior big man is very versatile and can play on the interior and also helps the Spartans on the perimeter. Michigan State still isn't expected to have senior guard Keith Appling back in the rotation today, but Travis Trice has been playing pretty solid for Tom Izzo's club.

Nebraska has won two in a row over Northwestern and Illinois after getting drilled by Michigan last week. The Cornhuskers are going to have to try and slow down the Spartan offense that averages 78 points, rebounds the ball nearly 40 times per game and hands out more than 17 assists per game. Michigan State loves to get out and go and we expect them to do that in this game against Nebraska.

The Huskers don't score a lot of points, don't rebound the basketball well and shoot less than 43 percent from the floor. Terran Petteway leads them with more than 17 points per game while Shavon Shields scores a dozen per contest. Both need big games today against a very solid defensive Michigan State club.

Don't expect them to beat Michigan State today. The Spartans are just too tough to beat at home and Nebraska doesn't have the pedigree of being able to beat anybody that's good on the road.
