The 17th-ranked LSU?Tigers welcome in the Arkansas Razorbacks in a battle of SEC?teams on Friday. The game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the odds for the game have LSU?favored by 24 points.
LSU?took down Johnny Manziel and the Texas A&M Aggies last weekend in Death?Valley. Arkansas figures to put up a lesser fight in this one, but do remember this is their final game of the season.
Indeed, the Hogs began the season on a high note, winning three in a row to open the season, but then they remembered they were part of the SEC. The Hogs beat Louisiana-Lafayette, Samford and Southern Mississippi during that three-game spurt. ULL and Samford are good teams, but don’t play the caliber of SEC?competition.
Arkansas has lost eight straight officially and this will be their sixth matchup against a ranked team during the season. The Hogs are very young on offense and LSU is just going to be too physical for them to overcome in this game.
LSU starts a pair of freshmen in the secondary, but we don’t think Arkansas will be able to take advantage of that. The Razorbacks rank as one of the worst 10 teams nationally in passing yards per game. They do run the football well, however, so that might keep them in this game, at least for a little while. Arkansas has only averaged 20 points per game this season and that’s just not going to overcome what LSU is going to do point wise.
The Tigers have alternated wins the past few weeks. They beat a then still solid Florida team back on Oct. 12 before falling to Ole Miss the next week in a game they should have won. This will be LSU’s final regular season game and their final time on the field until their bowl game.
Big-armed Zach Mettenberger will lead the Tiger seniors in their final home game, which will be a blowout. Arkansas is just no match physically in this contest.
