College Football Odds LSU Tigers at Alabama Crimson Tide

Tonight the SEC takes center stage when the No. 13 LSU Tigers head to take on the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide. Currently the college football odds for the game have Alabama favored by a couple of touchdowns. The game will be played on CBS with a national televised start time of 8 p.m.

Each year this is one of the biggest contests on the schedule. This year is no different. The Alabama Crimson Tide are the best overall team in the country, but that doesn't mean they are completely indestructible. Les Miles and the LSU Tigers will be looking to prove that tonight when they bring in their club to Alabama in a nationally televised game that everyone will be watching.

There's been some distraction of late for Nick Saban and the Alabama program. Rumors are swirling that he's going to leave soon to take the Texas job. Whether it's true or not doesn't matter right now. And don't think it's not some type of distraction for the players, assistant coaches or even Saban himself. No news is sometimes good news. Any news involving rumors can be worse. And any news involving rumors where Saban actually is thinking about leaving for Texas are worse.

The Tide are big favorites again this week, which probably will come as no surprise to many. They've dominated the SEC and college football for a handful of years now, and the past few weeks they've been able to pull away in the second half. Alabama has outscored their last three opponents 67-10 after halftime, burying everyone and leaving no doubt. And if you really want to get down to it, it's worth noting that Alabama has outscored Ole Miss, Kentucky, Arkansas and Tennessee 170-17 their last four weeks overall.

LSU QB Zach Mettenberger is having a great season. Alabama QB A.J. McCarron is having a pretty good season as well. Typically in big games like this the quarterback who plays better sees his team win the game. But that might not be the case here tonight. Both teams have excellent defenses and the offensive lines are going to play a huge role. Alabama hasn't given up a sack in 17 quarters, but the LSU defense will be looking to pressure McCarron all night.

Both of LSU's losses came by a field goal each. so they know how to play in big games like this. But will they be able to stop the run? Alabama has three steady backs and this year's LSU team is giving up more yards per game than last year's squad. Georgia had 196 yards on the ground against them while Ole Miss has 176. Both were LSU losses.

This has the makings of a great game. We think Alabama will get this one by 10 points or so, with a late score during this well-played contest. But too much Alabama in this one.

Free Pick: Alabama 28, LSU 17
