The Denver Broncos are coming off their first loss of the season last week and welcome in the Washington Redskins in NFL action Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 4:25 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have the Broncos favored by nearly two touchdowns.
The game of the week here with the Redskins and Broncos taking the field. Denver is coming off their first loss of the year to Indianapolis last week while Washington is looking to build on their season-saving win over the Bears last week. Prior to last week's defeat at the hands of the Colts, Denver had won 17 regular season games in a row.
Mike Shanahan's team is not going to like what the Broncos have in store for them this week. Peyton Manning is all about winning football games and he has to be fuming over last week's loss to his former team. He also has to like Washington coming to town. The Redskins secondary is not good, allowing opponent QBs to throw for more than 262 yards per game on average. Manning should have a big game as the Redskins have given up 11 passing touchdowns this season. Manning has thrown 25 touchdowns and just three picks this year.
Robert Griffin III is looking to continue to improve. He was more like himself last week in the Washington win over Chicago, and many expect him to build on that success. He seems to be running much better as well. But will he and the Redskins be able to keep up with Manning in this one? The Broncos do have a bye next week, so expect them to play a pretty tough contest here.
Von Miller is back for the Broncos and he's going to want to keep the Redskins running game in check. Washington is very good at running the football this season, rolling up better than 141 on the ground per game this year. Denver is the best rush defense in the league, allowing opponents to just 77 yards on the ground per game. The team that wins that battle will pick up the victory in this game.
We expect Manning and Denver to pick up the win here. It won't be easy as Washington looks to be playing well, but Manning and the boys will respond from getting beat last week on national television. Expect a supreme Bronco effort.
