The 2013 French Open Women's Final takes place Saturday morning from Paris, France. The matchup features Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams on the red surface. The 2013 French Open Women's Final Start Time is set for 9:00 a.m. EST and it will be televised nationally on NBC. Currently the 2013 French Open Women's Final Odds has Williams as a commanding favorite to win the match.

Odds

Serena Williams       -550 (Risk $550 to profit $100)
Maria Sharapova     +425 (Risk $100 to profit $425)

Imagine that. In today's final at the French Open we have the top two ranked women in the world battling it out for the clay season's most prized title. Serena Williams has absolutely dominated the clay court this season and she's put together an impressive 36-2 campaign all together this season. She's won five titles already this season and has dominated Sharapova in the past, winning 13 of the 15 matches between the two, including the last two matches on clay.

Neither one of these players would describe clay as their best surface to play on, but their powerful games have allowed them to get to this point in the tournament. Sharapova won the French Open last year, beating Sarah Errani in straight sets to complete her career grand slam. Many thought Sharapova's best tennis was behind her until last year when she captured the title at Rolland Garros. Prior to that her last win at a major came in the 2008 Australian Open, marking better than four years between major championships.

Williams was upset in the first round of last year's tournament and has come back with a fury this year. She's lost only one set in this year's tournament and only 21 games combined in all of her matches to this point in the tournament. She dominated Errani in their semifinal matchup on Thursday and comes into this final having not being crowned champion at Rolland Garros since 2002, when she topped sister Venus Williams in the finals.

Expect a hard-fought match to this point. Sharapova hasn't beaten Williams since 2004 but she's going to want to defend that title from last year and prove to the world that not only Williams can win at this level. If her service game is on, she can slug it out on the baselines with Williams — something not many players in the world would be able to do. Williams has only been pushed once in this tournament as Svetlana Kuznetsova took a set from her just a few matches ago.

But we like Sharapova in this matchup. She's an overwhelming underdog and that makes sense. Williams has complete control of the women's game of tennis at this point, but she's a glaring favorite on a surface that neither one is particularly favorite of, although Williams has dominated on it this season. Taking Sharapova to win in this match won't be popular, but we believe she can get it done because of her experience, stamina and ability to actually hit with Williams.
