One of the final games in the Big 12 regular season takes place tonight between the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the No. 4 Kansas Jayhawks. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPNU. Currently the College Basketball Odds for the game have Kansas favored by 24 points.
Kansas definitely benefited from all the Top 5 teams losing last week. The Jayhawks somehow found a way to win on the road at Iowa State and survived. Now they're again ranked No. 4 nationally and welcome in the bottom-feeding Texas Tech Red Raiders tonight. Kansas is favored by 24 points and will presumably blowout Texas Tech, especially in their final home game of the season.
The Jayhawks and Kansas State are tied atop the Big 12 standings and with just two games left in the regular season, each game for Kansas is huge if they want to win a regular season title. Since losing three in a row to begin the month of February, the Jayhawks have rattled off six straight wins with four of those victories coming at home. Bill Self's team is coming off a beatdown of West Virginia on Saturday and will be looking to do the same in tonight's game against a pretty bad Texas Tech team.
The Red Raiders rank next to last in the conference standings with just a 3-13 record overall. TCU is the only team lower than Texas Tech but remember, the Horned Frogs' only win in the league came over Kansas.
Ben McLemore is figured to be a for-sure Top 3 draft pick for the NBA this coming summer but he's focused on winning games for Kansas right now. He leads the team in scoring at just under 17 points per game. Jeff Withey, who continues to beat up opponents on the inside, will look to continue his pace tonight. Kansas has also been getting good minutes from Kevin Young and Travis Releford. Look for the Jayhawks to have a huge game tonight in their final home tilt of the season.
The Red Raiders shot a season-best 62.2 percent to end a nine-game skid Saturday with a 72-63 victory over TCU. Jaye Crockett is the only player to average in double figures and he leads the team in rebounding at just under seven per game as well. He and Withey will be battling on the inside tonight and in the first game of this series, Crockett scored just three points.
Texas Tech gummed up the last game, losing by only 14 points at home. Don't look for this game to be that close.
Free Pick: Kansas 81, Texas Tech 56
