Two of the three teams tied atop the Big East Conference collide today as the No. 11 Georgetown Hoyas take on the No. 8 Syracuse Orange. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the odds for the game have Syracuse as a home favorite.

For what it's worth, this is probably the final time Georgetown and Syracuse will play in the Carrier Dome. Many consider this to be the end of an era as the Big East is for sure breaking up in the very near future. Yet, before it ends there's still a lot to be determined. Marquette is tied with both Syracuse and Georgetown at 10-3 for the top spot in the Big East. Not many thought the Hoyas would be in this position this late in the season, but John Thompson III's gang will look for a huge road win today.

Syracuse is in the midst of a very tough five-game stretch, which begins and ends with Georgetown. They'll also take on Marquette, Louisville and DePaul. Jim Boeheim's team is averaging 75 points a game and plays very well at home, winning all 16 of their games at the Carrier Dome to this point in the season. They aren't the best shooting team in the country at 45 percent, but they do rebound well.

They've been a great team with James Southerland back as well. He can stretch defenses and allow for a more wide-open offense for Syracuse, which they certainly like to do with Michael Carter-Williams calling the shots. Brandon Triche has also played well and has no problems knocking down big shots for Syracuse. All three will have to play well for the Orange to hold off Georgetown.

There's no doubt this will be a physical, more than likely low-scoring game. Otto Porter Jr. leads the Hoyas at better than 15 and 7 rebounds per game. He's arguably the best overall player in the Big East and has no problems leading the Hoyas. Markel Starks is an excellent point guard for Georgetown, who will want to attack the Syracuse zone defense. Look, the Hoyas have no problem playing a game where they have to milk the shot clock and look for the best available opportunity to score points. D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera scored 33 points in the team's last game off the bench.

Georgetown scores 10 points a game less than Syracuse does, and they're not nearly as good a rebounding team as Syracuse is. They do take better advantage of scoring, shooting better than 46 percent from the floor.

The Hoyas have gone 4-2 on the road this season but their best win away from home was over Notre Dame back in January.

In what is projected to be the final game between rivals in the Carrier Dome, look for a slugfest in this one. Do not surprised if this game is played in the 50s or 60s as both teams play tough defense. Because this is going to probably be low-scoring, we're going to scoop up the points with Georgetown.
