Sunday Night Football Dallas Cowboys at Washington Redskins: Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The battle for the NFC East title comes down to the wire today between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins. The game is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. start time on Sunday Night Football and it will be televised nationally on NBC. Currently the odds for the game have Washington favored by 3.5 points.

Not sure many predicted that the Washington Redskins would be in this position after having to select high in the NFL Draft last year. But then again, the Indianapolis Colts are in the playoffs and they had to choose No. 1 and replace the best player in the team's history.

Dallas is coming off an overtime loss last week to the Saints which should have crushed their playoff dreams. However, nobody seems to want the NFC East right now and tonight the Skins and Cowboys will play for the crown. The two squads played on Thanksgiving and Robert Griffin III torched Dallas. He's clearly going to be the main focus of the Cowboys defense tonight. They now know what he can do and remember, his knee is a bit banged up as well.

This might sound odd, but we prefer to back Tony Romo and company when the Cowboys are on the road. Romo has thrown just four interceptions on the road this season compared to 11 at home. Maybe that big scoreboard is messing with his vision. The Dallas offense will have to keep the ball and Washington off the field as the Redskins have won outright and covered their last six games overall. That shouldn't be a problem for the Cowboys, who have played in three straight very tight games.

Against each other, Dallas has won just twice in the last five appearances. Romo hasn't been the best and he'll face a Redskins defense that has allowed just nine TD passes in the last seven games overall to opposing QBs. That includes the Thanksgiving game played between these two teams. Romo is on fire right now though, tossing for 12 TD passes and just three picks in his last four games. He's averaging more than 350 yards per game in that span as well. Look for him to find Dez Bryant, who has caught a touchdown pass in seven straight games.

Dallas has been in this situation before. In those patented last week win and you're in scenarios, the Cowboys were blown out by Philly 44-6 in 2008 and were curb-stomped last year by the Giants 31-14.

RG3 has definitely surpassed all expectations in his rookie season. Griffin has 20 TD tosses and just five interceptions to go along with six rushing scores, posting a 104.1 passer rating which ranks second in the NFL. And many thought he couldn't even throw the football well.

DeMarco Murray and Alfred Morris could decide who wins this game, however. Murray has been back for a few weeks now and is getting back to 100 percent and Morris has been another HUGE surprise for the Redskins this year. If either has a big game it would go a long way to helping his team.

Dallas' defense is the difference in this game for me. They have several guys on the front side that will have to play contain against Griffin and the threat of Morris coming out of the backfield is a big one. Yet, with the secondary needing to step up in this one I expect the Cowboys front seven to have a good game. Neutralizing Griffin isn't an easy task but keeping him uncomfortable in the pocket could be a key to the Dallas win tonight.

One this is certain — this game should be an incredible one to watch.
