Henderson has topped 20 points three times and leads the Rebels with a 17.8 average. He leads the SEC with 32 3-pointers and has made five or more 3s four times. Senior forward Murphy Holloway is averaging 14.6 points and a team-leading 10 rebounds and senior forward Reginald Buckner has blocked 22 shots to go with a 10.5 scoring average. Buckner ranks 11 in SEC history with 250 career rejections. Ole Miss has scored 80 or more points five times. The Rebels’ lone loss was against Middle Tennessee when they scored a season-worst 62 points.
The Lions climbed back over the .500 mark with a 92-86 win over Northern Arizona on Dec. 5. LMU is now 5-4 thanks to its current two-game winning streak. Junior forward Godwin Okonji underwent an emergency appendectomy on Dec. 12 and isn’t expected to play. “He is the type of kid that does not want to miss a second and has never missed a game due to injury,” Lions coach Max Good said. “He has already told us he plans for that to continue. We aren’t so sure about that and we will see how he progresses, but that shows you the type of person he is.” Okonji is averaging six points. Junior guard Anthony Ireland leads Loyola Marymount in scoring (21.1) and assists (5.4) while senior forward Ashley Hamilton averages 15.7 points and a team-leading 7.7 rebounds. Coach Max Good has a fast-paced system which has averaged 76.8 points per contest on 44.5 percent shooting from the field. His team is also converting 39.2 percent from distance and outrebounding its foes by 7.3 boards per outing. The Lions are allowing 70.1 ppg.
Free Pick: I will look to the Over in this one. The lions play a fast paced uptempo game and as a result the have averaged 76.8 ppg, while also giving up 70.1 ppg. The Lions are a decent shooting team and very good from long range. I really expect them to run even more and make this game as fast as they can to put on a show for the national TV Audience. They are up against a tough Ole Miss defense that has allowed just 57.9 ppg on the year, but in thye Rebels 2 true road games they did allow 65 points in each and I see the Lions getting a few more than that here, whil;e Ole Miss will put up at least 80 of their own vs a weak defense. This one could hit 150.
