Free Analysis: With more wins over No. 1 ranked opponents than any other program in the NCAA, the 14th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels will try to spoil the top-ranked Indiana Hoosiers' perfect record when the two collide at Assembly Hall for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Tuesday night.

UNC has knocked off the first-ranked team in the nation 12 times in its history. The Tar Heels improved to 5-1 in their last Maui Invitational appearance with a 112-70 win over the hosting Chaminade Silverswords. Roy Williams and his squad were upset by Butler in the second round of the tourney, but all of its wins have been by widespread margins. The results so far have given UNC a +22.2 ppg scoring margin and an 85.3 ppg scoring average, the latter ranking in the top 10 in the nation. James Michael McAdoo has seen his minutes nearly double from last season and his scoring average nearly triple from 6.1 to 16.8 points, but his turnovers are also skyrocketing. The 6-9 sophomore forward didn’t have more than three turnovers in any game last season, but he’s already had four or more in four of six games this season, including seven in the loss to Butler. The Tar Heels are also experiencing some growing pains with freshman point guard Marcus Paige, who has 20 assists and 19 turnovers while shooting 37.5 percent from the floor this season. UNC will be without P.J. Hairston, which means Reggie Bullock (12.7 ppg) and Leslie McDonald (8.8 ppg) will need to produce a little extra from the wing positions.

The Hoosiers are finally thriving once again as Tom Crean has officially resurrected the troubled program. Indiana has ran out to a 6-0 start with wins over Georgia and Georgetown highlighting its journey so far. The Hoosiers have engineered their perfect beginning to the year by leading the nation in free throws attempts per game (32.0), while ranking second in free throws made per game (23.7) and fourth nationally in scoring (88.7 ppg). Crean's team is coming off a 101-53 win over in-state rival Ball State. The margin of victory was the largest in the 21-game history of the rivalry which began in 1934. Indiana had a balanced attack as Will Sheehey scored 19 points while Jordan Hulls, Cody Zeller, and Christian Watford all reached double digits as well. With the emergence of Zeller the last two seasons, senior forward Christian Watford has seen his shot attempts gradually decline. Watford averaged a team-high 16 points two seasons back but fell to 12.6 last season and 13.2 so far this year. Watford, who's best remembered for hitting a buzzer-beating 3-pointer last season to knock off No. 1 Kentucky, is averaging 8.7 field-goal attempts, which would be a career low. He’s making his presence known in other areas, particularly rebounding, where he’s averaging a team-high eight. Hulls is third on the squad with 13 ppg and his lights out shooting from long distance (54.3 percent 3PT) makes it impossible to pressure the Hoosiers' big guys from the perimeter. Victory Oladipo (11 ppg) and Sheehey (10.7 ppg) are also chipping in more than 10 ppg each.

Free Pick: Ok I know that the Heels just got blownout by Butler and that Indiana is at home and is number 1 in the country, but this is a very talented Carolina squad and I don't see them as 10 point dogs in this one. This team has plenty of firepower and that should allow them to keep this one close. The Hoosiers have been been rolling right along at 6-0 and have outscored their opponents by 32.4 ppg, but none of their opponents were ranked and the only team they played that was any good so far was Georgetown and they needed OT to get the 10 point win in that one, plus they also struggled for much of the game vs a much weaker Georgia squad before pulling away late. The Heels are still one of the best teams in the nation and will make this one a fight from start to finish keeping this one in single digits.
