Undefeated Oregon State and its Pac-12 rival Washington close on today’s college football action with a showdown at CenturyLink Field in Seattle (10:15pm start time, Pac-12 Network). While there have been a number of surprise teams this season (both good and bad), Oregon State is, perhaps, the biggest of them all as it enters this evening’s conference tilt ranked seventh in the BCS standings with a 6-0 record.

The Beavers are no smoke and mirrors aberration either. Mike Riley’s squad , despite a difficult schedule, has thwarted all comers both at home and on the road, beating its opposition by an average of 9.7 points per game.  

The team’s most impressive feat has been its play away from Corvallis. The Beavers are 3-0 on the road with wins over UCLA (27-20), Arizona (38-35), and BYU (42-24), which are all, arguably, better than their opponent tonight.

Washington’s season got off to a fine start, but it hit a major rough patch starting with an October 6th meeting with Oregon. The Huskies got blasted 52-21 by the Ducks, a pasting which was followed by a 24-14 loss to USC and a 52-17 setback to Arizona.

Washington is 3-1 at home this season, and the biggest feather in its cap is the 17-13 underdog win it recorded against Stanford at CenturyLink Field; however, the Huskies diminishing offensive attack will have trouble finding the end zone against the Beavers stingy defense (16.5 points per game allowed).
