The 19th ranked Louisville Cardinals travel to take on the Southern Miss Golden Eagles on Saturday in college football action. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 pm EST start time and it will be televised live on CBS Sports Newtork. The odds for the game currently have the Cardinals as an 11-point road favorite.

What has happened to the Southern Miss football team? They've stumbled to an 0-3 start to the season and getting blown out by Nebraska and Western Kentucky in addition to losing a tough one at home to East Carolina. The Golden Eagles are off to their worst start since dropping their first nine games way back in 1976.

Louisville has covered the spread by 108.5 points in their last eight road games, so laying 11 points in this one tonight shouldn't be a big surprise. Both quarterbacks got banged up for Southern Miss last week and it's pretty clear the Golden Eagles are rebuilding. They lost head coach Larry Fedora to North Carolina during the off-season and the offensive philosophy has obviously been hurt because of that. Somehow this Golden Eagles team lost by nearly four touchdowns to Western Kentucky last week. They've had 18 consecutive winning seasons but all of a sudden that seems to be a real question mark. If they lose in today's game (oddsmakers say they will) Southern Miss will be 0-4 and facing an uphill battle the rest of the season.

The Cardinals are 4-0 for the first time since 2006. Charlie Strong's team got a close road win last week over Florida International. Louisville has been pretty balanced on offense this season, throwing for 266 yards per game this season and running for 165 more per contest. However, this could be a closer game than expected. Louisville has Pittsburgh up next week and everyone seems to be patting the Cardinals on the back for having a great start to the season. Could they slip up in this one?

Strong posts a nice 10-2 record against the number on the road as coach of the Cardinal program. Add to that Southern Miss ranks 120th in the country in passing yards (136 per game) and 82nd in the country at running the ball. The home team is in serious trouble in this one here today and we like the Cardinals to cover the spread and embarrass the Golden Eagles, pushing them to 0-4 on the season.
