MLB Saturday New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Start Time and Odds

The Dodgers will look to end their wretched slide this evening when they take on the Mets in a game three battle at Los Angeles. Start time in tonight’s New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers series finale is scheduled for 7:15pm ET at Dodger Stadium. The latest MLB Saturday Odds at offshore book BetOnline.ag have New York and the Under 7 runs listed as -142 and -115 moneyline favorites respectively. The Dodgers are getting +132 odds as a home underdog.

The Dodgers fall from grace continued last night as the Mets took the series with a 9-0 game two victory. Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey, who became the major league’s first 12 game winner of the season with last night’s triumph, limited L.A.’s abysmal offense to three hits over eight innings.

The setback marked the Dodgers sixth straight loss and the fourth time in their last five games that they failed to put a single run on the scoreboard.

The Mets, who improved to 19-19 on the road, battered starter Aaron Harang and reliever Shawn Tolleson for 12 hits and seven earned runs over seven innings. The offensive fireworks brought the Mets’ run total to 29 over their last three games. New York, a winner of three straight games, is now +22 in run differential for the season.

The Dodgers will call on rookie hurler Nate Eovaldi to cool the Mets hot bats this evening. Eovaldi, who is making his seventh start of the season, was effective in his first five appearances, giving up just eight earned runs over 30 2/3 innings (2.38 ERA); however, the Dodgers backed him with a grand total of five runs in those five outings.

The lack of run support continued in Eovaldi’s last start, with L.A. posting what has become its customary donut, but the 22 year old right hander charted a drastically different course. Eovaldi yielded 10 hits and eight earned runs over five innings in an 8-0 loss to NL West rival San Francisco. The setback brought L.A.’s record to 0-6 is Eovaldi’s six 2012 starts.

Countering Eovaldi for the Mets is former Cy Young winner Johan Santana. Santana comes into tonight’s game with an impressive 3.00 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, and he has rounded back into form after two bad starts following his June 1st no-hitter opposite the Cardinals.

Santana has allowed just nine hits and two earned runs in his last two outings (12 innings pitched); he walked five and struck out 11 on 203 pitches. For his career Santana is 4-0 with a 0.65 ERA in four starts against the Dodgers.

MLB Saturday Betting Trend: The Dodgers are 1-7 in their last eight games as home underdog in the month of June when facing a left handed pitcher.
