Eovaldi yielded 10 hits and eight earned runs over five innings in an 8-0 loss to NL West rival San Francisco. The setback brought L.A.’s record to 0-6 is Eovaldi’s six 2012 starts.
Countering Eovaldi for the Mets is former Cy Young winner Johan Santana. Santana comes into tonight’s game with an impressive 3.00 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, and he has rounded back into form after two bad starts following his June 1st no-hitter opposite the Cardinals.
Santana has allowed just nine hits and two earned runs in his last two outings (12 innings pitched); he walked five and struck out 11 on 203 pitches. For his career Santana is 4-0 with a 0.65 ERA in four starts against the Dodgers.
