Wednesday's college football will see the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl continue the bowl season. The TCU Horned Frogs (10-2) will take on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (8-4). Kickoff is slated to happen at 8:00 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN. TCU comes into the contest as a very heavy favorite in this contest, currently sitting at -9 after opening in double digits. The total for the game is set at 55.5 points.

Free Analysis: Biggest thing for me in this game is whether or not TCU actually wants to be in this game after winning the Rose Bowl last year. The Frogs barely missed out on being eligible for a BCS game this year but after Boise State was shafted at the No. 7 spot, there's probably a real slim chance TCU would have been picked. TCU is no stranger to bowl games while the Bulldogs are making their sixth bowl appearance, their last coming in 2008 when they defeated Northern Illinois in the Independence Bowl. Tech is probably looking at this game as a building block for future things to come. The Bulldogs lost by a combined three points to Houston and Southern Miss and dropped a game to Mississippi State in overtime. Those three loses put Louisiana Tech at just 1-4 on the season, so the team has won seven straight games heading into tonight. Unlike last night when we didn't take Marshall after they played a tough schedule, we're going to learn from our mistake. There shouldn't be a cultural shock for this Tech team that played two SEC teams on the road and played three other bowl teams (Southern Miss, Utah State, Nevada) on the road. TCU had to replace 12 starters from last year's team, including QB Andy Dalton, who is doing great things in the NFL. Enter true sophomore Casey Pachall, who has played very well this season. However, he won't be playing with offensive coordinator Justin Fuente, who took the Memphis job earlier this month. As always with Gary Patterson-led teams, the defense will be critical to tonight's game. The Frogs are holding teams to 346.3 yards per contest — 32nd in the nation — and an average of 21.3 points, 30th in the FBS. The group is led by two-time conference defensive player of the year Tank Carder, who will play his final college game. WAC defensive player of the year Adrien Cole leads the Bulldogs with 121 tackles, including a team-best 12 for loss, while Christian Lacey is tied with TCU end Stansly Maponga with 8.5 sacks. Tech is third in the country defensively with 20 INTs, while Pachall has thrown only six picks to go with his 24 TDs on the season. He's helped the Horned Frogs average 41.7 points — ninth in the FBS. Each team defensively gives up right around three touchdowns per contest.

Free Pick: I like Louisiana Tech here getting the points, which equates to more than one possession. As we've seen in the bowl games so far this season, the dog getting points are dangerous. I don't think tonight is any exception to that. Sure, Patterson teams are always going to be "ready" but I still have to wonder just how much they are going to be motivated to play in this game compared to what Tech must be feeling. The Bulldogs started just 1-4 on the season and are now in a bowl game that NO ONE thinks they can hang around in. Yet, the opening line has come down two full points even though TCU is currently holding 70% of the bets on the spread. Tech wants to be here and their improved defense is going to show why they SHOULD be here tonight. I'm not saying they're going to win, but I think they easily cover the number.
