2012 US Presidential Election Odds: Republican Nominee

2012 US Presidential Election Odds, Republican Nominee Mitt Romney Favored
2012 US Presidential Election Odds are out and oddsmakers have the former Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney the current favorite at +150 to win the Republican Party presidential nomination in 2012. When looking at the US Presidential Election Odds, even with high gas prices, high unemployment, high inflation, multiple wars and the nation bleeding money the betting experts are backing Barack Obama to win a second term in 2012 at -300 with the Republicans the underdog at +150.

When breaking down the odds below it would seem that Mitt Romney is the safe choice, but +150 does not offer much value with Michele Bachmann a rising star and paying a nice chunk of change +800 ($800 for a $100 wager). If you put aside Bachmann and her 23 foster kids for a moment, Texas Governor Rick Perry is a great underdog at +650 if he decides to enter the race. Granted Mitt Romney would have a better chance in a general election against Obama, but Bachmann and Perry cater to the more "right" of the GOP and could easily win the nomination. It is interesting to note that even though they are favorites of the Tea Party bloc of the party, Bachmann is a former Democrat and Perry actually backed Al Gore in the 1988 Democratic presidential primaries and was chairman for his campaign in Texas.

US Presidential Election 2012-Republican Nominee
Charlie Crist +4000
Condaleezza Rice +4000
David Petraeus +4000
Fred Thompson +4000
Herman Cain +1400
Jeb Bush +4000
John Boehner +1000
Jon Huntsman +450
Jon Thune +1600
Marco Rubio +4000
Mark Sanford +3300
Michael Bloomberg +1500
Michele Bachmann +800
Mike Pence +4000
Mitt Romney +150
Newt Gingrich +1400
Rick Perry +650
Ron Paul +1200
Rudolph Giuliani +2500
Sam Brownback +3000
Sarah Palin +1100
Tim Pawlenty +250

If you plan on making a wager on one of the candidate above we highly suggest checking out Nationwide opinion polling for the United States presidential election, 2012 hosted at Wikipedia. Almost all the major opinion polls are listed and currently Mitt Romney is the leading choice across the board and Barack Obama would end up beating almost any candidate from the Republican camp.

Discussion: Who is your choice to be the 2012 Republican Nominee?

Movie CNN Republican GOP Presidential Debate 2011 (part #1)
Most political experts agree that Mitt Romney won the debate, mainly due to Tim Pawlenty dropping the ball on the "Obamacare" question.
