NFL: Minnesota Vikings Season Win Totals + Super Bowl Odds

NFL: Minnesota Vikings Season Win Totals + Super Bowl Odds

MGM Resorts International Race & Sports (includes Bellagio) are predicting a possible one game improvement (Vikes went 6-10 last year) in the 2011-12 NFL season for the Minnesota Vikings and opened their season win total at over 6.5 -120 / under 6.5 +100. Currently, Las Vegas has the Vikings sitting at over 7.0 -125 / under 7.0 +105, while the offshore betting world has Minnesota sitting at over 7.5 +130 /  under 7.5 -160. The current Super Bowl odds on the Vikings have them sitting at 18-1 in Las Vegas and a whopping 60-1 at offshore sportsbooks ($100.00 bet would win $6000.00).

The 2010 Minnesota Vikings were a disappointment to both bettors and fans as they ended up 6-10 straight up and an abysmal 5-10-1 against the betting number. Leslie Frazier inherits a team in rebuilding mode, but most of the information coming from camp has new quarterback Donovan McNabb in sync with the offensive scheme and already bonding with teammates. DE Jared Allen is already comfortable enough to be "busting chops" on the new quarterback and yelled "Campbell Soup" during a McNabb press conference recently. The first stage of any rebuilding is chemistry amongst the players and coaching staff. The Vikings in regards to the offense should be in a plug and play situation and if the offensive line can actually provide protection the Vikings have a good shot at going 8-8.

Cantor Gaming is becoming the big player in Las Vegas in regards to sports betting and already has released lines on all 256 regular season NFL games. Here is the list of point spreads for all sixteen Minnesota Vikings regular season games: Minnesota +9.0 at San Diego, Tampa Bay (PK) at Minnesota, Detroit +2.0 at Minnesota, Minnesota +5.0 at Kansas City, Arizona +6.0 at Minnesota, Minnesota +6.5 at Chicago, Green Bay -6.5 at Minnesota, Minnesota -3.5 at Carolina, Minnesota +10.5 at Green Bay, Oakland +2.5 at Minnesota, Minnesota +7.0 at Atlanta, Denver +5.5 at Minnesota, Minnesota +4.0 at Detroit, New Orleans -1.0 at Minnesota, Minnesota +2.0 at Washington and Chicago -2.0 at Minnesota. Using the Cantor predictions as a model, you would expect the Vikings to end up with five wins, nine losses and two games a coin flip. As a bettor if you concede the underdog games at TD or higher, your decision to bet over or under would be based off whether the Vikings could win the close games to end out the season at home versus the Saints and Bears and on the road against the Redskins. Another important variable is how you handicap the quarterback situation and if Ponder has to step in at all, will the rookie from Florida State be able to lead this offense into the endzone.
