MINNESOTA TWINS with Gibson @ TORONTO BLUE JAYS with Dickey
2** Play on: OVER THE TOTAL
The Minnesota Twins are up to their ‘OVER’-whelming tricks again. Baseball’s clear-cut BEST ‘Over’ team (58-24-4 O/U last 86 / 35-15-4 O/U last 54 road games) is BACK on another streak of high-scoring, high-flying results. There’s been 15 and 23 runs scored in each of the first two games of this Twins / Blue Jays series. With those results, Minnesota is back on a 5-game ‘OVER’ streak in their last five games… and 12-4-1 O/U in their last 17 games. They’ve been scoring a lot of runs… and GIVING up a lot of runs when it comes to pitching, too. So it’s no surprise that we will be playing for this Twins / BlueJays series to improve to a PERFECT 5-0 O/U in the last five games played North of the Border. MINNESOTA has gone 19-6-1 O/U in all GAME THREE’s of a series… 16-5-1 O/U in their last 22 games versus the American League East Division… 26-9-3 O/U in their last 38 road games versus right-handed starters… 40-14-5 O/U versus an opponent who allowed 5+ runs in their previous game… and 10-1 O/U in their last 11 games on the ‘fake stuff’ (astroturf).
Meanwhile, the Toronto Blue Jays have rediscovered their offense as of late. It’s basically been in hibernation for a few months. They erupted for 23 runs on 25 hits in the first two contests of this series. Current streak’s for the hosts: 3-1-1 O/U in last five games… and 7-3-1 O/U in their last 11 games. In addition, Toronto will be trotting out to the mound a starting pitcher that’s had his problems with today’s opponent. R. A. Dickey’s ERA versus the Twins has been 6.26 in the last four seasons… and and 7.05 for his entire career. It’s been best to play him ‘OVER the Total’ in his home starts. For the year, Dickey’s ERA at home is 5.33 (3-0-1 O/U last 5 home starts)… and in DAYTIME starts, his ERA is 5.98 (compared to only 3.56 at night).
Did you know that EVERY single Minnesota pitcher that’s currently in their rotation has an ERA of OVER 5.00 on the season? That includes today’s hurler (Kyle Gibson / 5.09). He’s actually been pitching even worse as of late. In his last three starts, Gibson’s ERA is 6.16. In his last five starts, the ERA is 6.75. The Blue Jays are hitting .353 as a team against Gibson for his career. To top it all off, Gibson has now gone OVER in EACH of has last five starts in a row (5-0 O/U).
