CHICAGO WHITE SOX @ MINNESOTA TWINS
2** Play on: OVER THE TOTAL
This has already been a pretty high-scoring series. These two AL Central Division rivals went OVER in last night’s Game One (final score 8 to 6). And the last five Twins / White Sox games have gone 3 OVERS… ZERO Under… and 2 ties. Average combined runs per game: 10.6. Both of these teams have been hitting the ball very solidly as of late, and we’ll have the extra benefit of a top notch ‘Man in Blue’ as well.
Working behind the dish in tonight’s Game two will be LANCE BARRETT. This Umpire is currently ranked #2 in all of Major League Baseball (out of 86 full-time guys) in OVER results. Barrett has gone 15-7-2 O/U, with an average of 9.6 combined runs per game. A 68% ‘Over’ percentage for the season is pretty strong, but Barrett has been even better as of LATE. Since starting out the season with a 2-4 O/U record, Barrett has gone 13-3-2 O/U (81% Overs) since the middle of May. And since the end of June, Barrett has gone an almost PERFECT 9-1-2 o/U in his last 12 games. Average runs per game during that current high-scoring streaks has been 10.4. In the last five seasons, he’s had 20 MORE ‘Overs’ (57) than ‘Unders’ (37).
By now, all sharp Totals Players are aware of Minnesota’s GREAT hitting against southpaws this season. The official record is 21-9-1 O/U in their last 31 games versus left-handed starters. They are one of only THREE Major League Baseball teams (Toronto and the Yankees being the other two) that has averaged 5 runs per game or MORE versus lefties on the year. In fact, in their last ten games… Minnesota has averaged 5.8 rpg vs lefties. And in their last FIVE games, they’ve averaged a whopping 7.9 rpg vs lefties. They might just go OVER tonight’s total of 8 runs ALL by themselves!
Also in a great groove as far as great hitting and shitty pitching (what us OVER players look for) is the visiting White Sox. They come in on a current 25-9 O/U record in their last 34 games dating back to the middle of July. After losing last night’s Game One, we note that the CHI SOX have gone 17-4 O/U when playing off a loss the previous day. Also 5-0 O/U in their last 5 road games… 6-1-1 away versus lefty starters… 13-3 O/U after scoring 5+ runs in their previous game… and 8-2 O/U in Game Two of a series.
